The donut shop that Elana introduced me to by her dads house. They serve great breakfast tacos and their donuts are great too. It’s nice having a good place on the way to work because in the last 6 months my love for donuts has revived!
Stephen and Dawn Lucas, and their awesome hospitality this week.
My colleagues at TCH and the passion for providing top notch care to our families.
Having an hour with medical residents on my unit yesterday and hearing their love for healing sick children and the ethical dilemmas that emerge in pediatric ICU’s. I feel blessed to hear their thoughts and their joy and their distress as well.
Ryan’s playfulness and snuggliness that keeps me sustained and my spark lit during long weeks like this.
Jeff Childers, perhaps one of the greatest mentor teachers that I didn’t know that well. His wit and humor with his love for church history and grounded faith have meant a lot to me. I have appreciated his challenge to think critically about the roots of our faith and interactions with other faiths. Happy birthday Jeff!
Visits with kids who ask fantastic questions like “Did God know that Adam and Eve would eat the fruit because Gods knows everything?” I had a great and fruitful visit with a 12yo who was so pleasant but very curious about theology!
Brad Kitchens, who I met at Arlington CofC many days ago. There are many things that drew me to Brad, but I am very grateful that he let me sing with him in the praise team though I had no idea how to sing but could mimic the sound I heard from him. Also, quite an optimist. Happy birthday Brad!
Elana’s tenacity, which she has used to get through a Bachelors and Masters, deal with trying situations, pursue solutions, explore dreams, and kept us on budget so we can both enjoy many of our interests. That tenacity may be her most visible trait but it is also one of the best for her kids and family.
Elana’s fierce protectiveness for those she loves. She is so loyal and true, but uses her skills of planning and thinking ahead in ways that reflect her desire to protect me and our family from harm or hurt or stress.
Michael Bell, because it’s his birthday and because he knows how to use his experience as wisdom. Perhaps no one comes across as passionate to talk about how Jesus and life meet than he is and I love that passion. Happy birthday to a great man and friend!
Friends who are wise and give good straight talk while also being compassionate listeners.
Safe driving to and from work in the icy conditions of Houston today.
